Hi Simon
Really nice work!
It’s difficult to flick from your old image to your new version for comparison whilst viewing it in my thread but I can see a lot of work has gone into colour control, sharpening details and star reduction!
I’m impressed!
I did like the dynamics of your first version as you had quite a lot of data, maybe you could try a combination of the images?Just a Suggestion? It’s all practice!
Thank you so much for sharing your hard workcheers

Lovely Images again Gorann!
I’m torn,
I think the dust is more obvious and dramatic in v1 but v2 has a more ethereal quality
I’m afraid I can’t choose at the moment, sorry, They are both equally worthy
Thanks for sharing

Well done!
Fabulous result for such a short integration!
This is on my bucket list, too low for my garden unless I come to some arrangement with my lovely wife and she allows me to trim some of our out of control trees!

Thanks i would kike to see that image, as i also own a 12” lx200 which is setup in my Dome but ive only used it for planets so far as i can never get it to guide well enough for deep sky. i could put it on my EQ8 in my roll off roof obs but that would mean taking my other 4 smaller scopes off, and dont want to do that. Seems a shame though as i think the 12” would be great for small stuff.
lee
Thanks Lee
I hope to own an eq8 or equivalent one day, at the moment I am carefully balancing it on my azeq6 on a homemade pier!
I have tested many reducer/flatteners over the years and settled on the (not so cheap) Starizona LF focal reducer/flattener, if controls the stars well, good enough to even use it for mosaic imaging with my Atik383, I haven’t tried it with a bigger chip yet, no Autofocuser, just bahtinov mask and lack of sleep!
I will post the image soon, I’ve not finished processing it yet and after seeing yours I’m tempted to start again!
Thanks againBryan

Love this!
I have a version of the same area that I dedicated over 30 hours to with my 12” meade lx200 sct
I think your version is gorgeous

Awesome!
Olly, I will never forget when when you were trying to help me years ago when I was struggling with an image, you were suggesting I use DBE in Pixinsight and I complained that I needed to buy another piece of hardware, and software was lower on my list of priorities
I think it was sept 2017 when you gave me this advice
“However, software is equipment. Honestly, the contribution of processing software to the success or failure on an image can easily be greater than that of the hardware, depending on your sky.
Olly“
I cannot believe what is capable now with software!
images combined from several sessions/scopes/locations and seamlessly stitched together to produce something as wonderful as this!
Bravo! And thank you for all the help and advice over the yearsI love this one especially as I can zoom in to an area of interest that I have been imaging recently and I can see it in some context
Thanks for sharing

AstroPixelProcessor (I'm assuming from APP) will give you some options in the stretch/basic processing and has some other great tools within. The light pollution removal tool is excellent and the last few versions also have a star reduction option. I haven't moved to the v2 beta releases yet (I typically use it for mosaics and pre-processing)
I too recommend astropixelprocessor There are some great tools to combine the sho in varying degrees to give less green more blue/gold as well
Great start! Once you get the colour balance it’s going to be a fine image 😊

You are welcome
I am looking forward to seeing your revised image (not that there was anything wrong with your first!)

That's superbly detailed. Nice to see a DS image from an SCT for a change, too. It certainly works!
Olly
Thanks Olly
I’ve been mainly imaging with my 12” Meade for about 12 months now. Although I have quite a few scopes to play with I have really enjoyed the closeup nature of my original “serious telescope” the challenges it throws up and it’s predictable nature
I hope one day to own a mount that will help me retain more usable subs, or a camera that doesn’t need 15min per sub to reveal the signal
Thanks again for the comment

ooh yes. Thats lovely. An object like this deserves a close up.
I really like the detail in the pillar - shades of black ! - and also the little chap's eyes and teeth at the top of the cone. I could see them in my Ha image but they got lost in the jumble with the other filters.
If I can ask - what was your recipe for the colour palette? and how do you do it? My HSO of this ended up a lurid red and yellow - which I actually quite like, but it would be nice to have a choice!
Simon
Hi Simon
After stacking the individual filters (in astropixelprocessor) I opened them in Pixinsight, applied blur terminator to each sub then combined them sho which came out green (as usual) I then applied scnr in pix to remove the green, the colour at this point was quite muted but not too dissimilar to the posted image
I then used curves to alter the colour balance a bit
I then stretched using eztools soft stretch
Saved the file, and opened in photoshop (cs6) where I applied a 10% luminance layer (ha) which I blended at about 20% opacity
I did a couple of extra things that I can’t quite remember, but the colour was tweaked in photoshop using a selective colour layer blended that in and did it again until I felt happy
uploaded to my phone using OneDrive then used psxpress on my phone to tweak the contrast, sharpness, and colour balance again to make it look a bit cleaner
Something like that, roughly
selective colour is a great tool for altering the colour balance
This could be useful?
