Trying to explain to a family member that the colour present in images of DSO's isn't actually how it looks, merely so that our eye cells can perceive it is frustrating

Hi, I'm new to astronomy & this forum. After a lot of reading I purchased an 8 inch Dobsonian, the scope is great, but I need to find somewhere dark without too much light pollution. I live in Basildon Essex.

Met office says clear all night for sussex, with very good visibility from 1am on. I feel a imaging session coming on.
