    Hi, I'm new to astronomy & this forum. After a lot of reading I purchased an 8 inch Dobsonian, the scope is great, but I need to find somewhere dark without too much light pollution. I live in Basildon Essex.

      i live in rural north yorkshire and even i suffer from light pollution. You need literally the middle of nowhere.

      How about Laindon Hills country park ( I think that's it's name)? Assuming your 8" is fairly portable of course...& I dint know of the park is accessible @ night - I've only cycled through it once.
