Thank you Helen, I suppose looking at the astronomy tools website and field of view is influencing us at the minute. However I think we will start with what comes out of the box.
Andrew
Good plan 👍. The lower power eyepieces will have a wider field of view too. This will make getting and keeping your object in view easier - you'll be surprised how quickly they (or rather we!) move 😉
Have fun

Welcome Alice and Dad
That's a great starter scope! For the moment I'd stick with the eyepieces it comes with. I certainly wouldn't go for the 2.5mm one to start with - don't be sucked into thinking higher magnification is always good. A smaller, brighter image will often show more detail.
Have fun!

I'm looking for some good bedtime reading. Astro or general science (or anything else really)
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Indeed Andrew!!
My PhD is analysing the Rostta Mission amateur campaign - the data and the campaign management. I'm working on an automated analysis routine (particularly where meta data is missing) and also looking at developing tools and routines for ensuring the meta data is complete in future campaigns.

I hope we're all keeping our distance in this waiting room 😉

Nice list Andrew! I keep looking back at the Mewlon as an option for my travel set up for time spend away on UK. Double mounted with my tak 100 would be awesome!!
I've been wondering whether to set it as a reward to myself if I ever get the big programming routine I'm working on for my PhD sorted out 🤔. Or maybe my first published paper..... Might be useful for 67P return in the new year....

Can I share this to friends who may be interested in seeing the event tonight but who may not be members here?
Yes. It might be a good opportunity to encourage them to join SGL too 😁😁

How long will each session last ?
Am I correct thinking that with the free version of Zoom (never used this before all work is done via Teams) you only have 40 minutes when over 3 participants ?
Steve
FLO are kindly covering to cost of a proper zoom licence, so no time constraints 👍

Great idea! Hope there is the opportunity to fit something in for visual observers.
Yes, we're exploring ideas for non-imaging content as we're wanting to ensure the breadth of the SGL community's interests are catered for 🤗

I know we have members involved in outreach, so this might be of interest...

Life is full of compromises 🤔
I haven't been out today, it's been cloudy/hazy, but yesterday I did overdo it a bit... more a hydration than sunburn issue though.
I've been saving to a usb3 external hard drive (storage on my laptop is limited) and that might be throttling speed a bit. It's probably worth some experimenting... My new obs PC has a 1tb sad, so maybe a long cable and try that.

Thanks both 😁. I was having problems with nr with the powermate and the asi yesterday too.. 🥺

I'm getting back into solar imaging, and wondering whether it's time to upgrade my solar camera. I'm using an old skyris 274 for speed, or the asi1600 for fov. The asi1600 runs at 2 or 3fps though, so catching the good seeing is challenging. So I wondered what the current weapon of choice is for good resolution but at fast frame rate?
Thanks

Some fantastic posters available for download here - and in Trading Card format too

(I reckon that would make a fantastic jigsaw puzzle too!)

That's good news. I had the same problem yesterday with a Google meet meeting - even though 10 minutes before, using the same camera/speaker setup, I had a skype call. I ended up using my mobile phone for audio 🥺 BUT, and this might be useful, when I switched from Chrome to Firefox it all worked fine. Is there an irony in that Google meet won't work with Google's own browser 😏
