  1. Hi , i took the opportunity this afternoon during a bit of a clear patch to try out a filter that i have made for my OOUK ODK . Best 20% of around 450 frs Stacked in Autostakkert , sharpened and processed in Reg6 and Photoshop. Hope the skies play ball on the 10th.  Thanks for looking .

Hope you don't mind me asking, but which one was it you ordered? :)

Hi Callisto, sorry for the late reply. I ordered the BAARDER AstroSolar Safety Film 5.0 from FLO.  Hope this helps.

Mark your calendar "the sky WILL be clear on this day"   and you can in effect use the law of attraction to work in your favor for at least one picture :)

    I hope so.👍

  5. Hi , in the event of a clear sky on the 10th June for the partial eclipse, i decided to make a simple solar filter for my Star71mm. I orderd the solar film from FLO on mid Monday  and it arrived on Wednesday morning [ thanks FLO ] .After a couple of hours i had the filter made, so decided to try it out as the sky had plenty of sunshine and clear spells in it. This is the result from my 1st session on the afternoon of the 19th using the filter. Stacked and tweeked in Reg6 and Photoshop.    Thanks for looking.

  6. Hi, nova cas 2021 imaged last night with my two rigs. 1st picture is from my wide field rig, WO STAR71mm / ZWO 1600mc 1st Gen 1x180s.

    2nd picture is taken with my OOUK ODK12 / A A 294C ProTec  2x180s.  Mount Ioptron Cem120ec.

I last imaged it on the 25/3/21 and boy what a difference in magnitude it has undergone all of a sudden in these last few days. I believe it is reaching naked eye visibility from a dark location now.

I managed to take 20x 2sec  images of the Nova last night (10 May) around 10:30pm with my DSLR and 85mm lens at F2.5 and stacked them. Here is the slightly cropped result:

It is much brighter than a few weeks ago. Based on my binocular observation and this photo I will put it at 5.3: a bit dimmer than 4 Cas itself, which is mag 5, but brighter than the nearby HIP 115395 which is 5.6. Definitely in NE visibility territory, just not NE visible in my skies yet. Very exciting development!

    Nice one Nick.

I got out with the Mak 127 last night, didn't clear until midnight but was super transparent sky then.

As soon as the first image landed I was shocked at how bright it has become. Anyway, if only for aesthetic purposes I give you my latest rendition:

    15 x 30 sec. Mak 127, ASI178 camera. Guiding was perfect :)

As the dawn crept up in the east I decided to have a look with the bins, I've not actually looked at this nova!! The sky was to bright to star hop and I really don't know the wider field, having only seen it through the narrow view of the camera. My conclusion is that I definitely saw it but no idea which one it was! 🤪

Nice catch Paul, i also imaged it last night and i was shocked also as to how bright it has become since my last attempt around a month back..
