Threw these away when I saw the out of focus stars...seems there was a bit of tilt! Bottom of image is fine. Cropped out the worst. Looks okay unless you pixel peep
M45. 1 hour of 120s subs and 1 hour of 180s subs. RASA 8, ASI2600MC Pro, CEM 40, Lacerta MGEN. DSS and PS. Something to do under a full moon and cloud...

looked through my images to find the one with the brightest stars,
They do show similar effects though very tolerable! Failure to get any of the other variables correct - alignment, focus, optimal exposure, cabling, temperature, tracking and processing could all add to it. Especially in my case!

Browsing ASI2600MC Pro images on Interweb, I can see many have similar star issues...

Interesting, especially since I'm using a refractor!
Indeed!! I did wonder about temperature. AP, endless 'fun'...

I use these steps from about 5 mins into the video.
You can try without Gradient Xterminator and the Actions.

I dabbled in DSO astrophotography about 15 years ago. A 150mm, f8 refractor...soon tired of the setup and dismantling of a heavy and unwieldy solution (also, just managed carp results...). Retreated to widefield DSLR nightscapes, timelaspes and stuff.
Now, a permantent setup in the newly minted Yorkshire Dales Dark Sky Reserve Managed a few minutes of clear on Saturday for first light.
25 x 60s RASA8 (yes, another) and ASI2600MC. Lacerta MGEN 3 guiding. All on iOptron CEM40. Processing in Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop.
Looking forward to more clear nights and improvements.
Best wishes, Paul.
P.S. the second run of the evening was 60 mins of an out of focus M45...

...a relic of lead mining high above Swaledale, under the Milky Way and glow of the Northern Lights.
First attempt at foreground light painting in a freezing gale last night. I blame @davew
Canon 6D MkII and Sigma 24mm.
Sky 8 x 6s at f2 and iso3200. Processed in LR and Sequator.
Foreground 3 x 6s at f5 and iso800. Blended in PS.

I prefer your original...
...personal taste. The later version is much too harsh and loses detail. The original has a good balance.
Wish I could produce something as good!

Keep them coming please,
Cheers Dave. I'm always looking for new locations. Unfortunately, many of the ruins are down in valleys...
...hoping for a good season! Paul

Transparency is not too good here tonight so it's not a good "veil night
Likewise here, a clear but not clear night

I guess 50mm of aperture just isn't enough
Hi. I regularly observe the Eastern section through Canon 15x50 IS binoculars from here in the northern Yorkshire Dales. SQM 21.2 - 21.5. I have observed with standard 10x50s.
Seeing the Veil kicks off the astro season for me each year!! :)
Good luck. Paul.
