I was thinking of it so it could provide the lesser magnification views that the dob can’t get, But I did figure balancing issues would be a problem. I don’t know if magnetic counterweights would work?
I also don’t really know if it’s worth it due to the significant reduction in aperture compared to the dob. Do you think it’s just worth sticking to the higher mag but better detail that the dob offers?
With the right eyepieces the 12” Dob gives some nice wide(ish) views. There aren’t many targets that you can’t fit in one fov.

I’ve got a light weight 70mm travel scope on my 16” Dob as a super finder. Although it rarely gets used as the Telrad/low power eyepiece generally does the job and the Dob gives better views on the vast majority of targets.
However, I could see you running into major balance problems as your main tube is fixed in relation to the pivot / alt bearings.

Same here. Like looking through a goldfish bowl! A few fireworks would cheer things up.

The Dob is on its trolley in the garage ready for action!
The others (3) are secreted around my study.

You’ll find the E21 as immersive as you’ll need.

The humble PST can give some great views. You’ve paired it with a great solar eyepiece too.
Enjoy the show!

I was quite impressed with the Vixen SLV's when I reviewed them for the forum. They don't offer a wider view than plossls though.
They are a lot more comfortable to use than the Plossls. I was very impressed with the 5 and 6mm SLVs (haven’t tried any of the longer variants).

I'm wondering why you have a toaster on the shelf next to the little 127, to keep it warm on the cold nights?

Definitely OIII first. It is rare that I use my UHC.

Looks like a lovely scope. Glad that it is living up to expectations. It looks like a surprisingly compact design for a big mirror.

At last...a report to type up!
Come on then. What were the highlights?
It is a rare thing to actually setup and use a scope at a star party!

Glad that the scope is performing well. Thanks for posting the pictures too.
Mag 14 to 15 galaxies! That galaxy count is really going to rocket.

Good choice. 10” gives enough grunt for DSO and is reasonably portable. I’ve got the flex tube collapsible version.
That said. They are big scopes so storage can be an issue.

Wonderful eyepieces!
I managed without a CC at f4.7. Definitely need one at f4. Although I sold my E21 to pay for the f4 scope. 😁
Enjoy

Sounds like an interesting couple of hours. Shame that the 20pv Dob wasn’t better placed. Wonder if it could have lived with the fracs??

Splendid! That one has got to stick.

The 17.3mm Delos was my most used eyepiece in my f4.7 Dob. I found that 30mm showed slightly washed out due the too bigger exit pupil.
But if the 30mm works for you. Stick with it.

PS. I’ve never tried a Morpheus.

Show off.😁😁
If only more of us had the courage to make the jump.

Looks like a complete set to me!
As good as money in the bank. If it all goes wrong you can always sell up and slum it with a set of Delos....
Don’t blame you for baulking at the 21E. A very fine eyepiece, but the there are limits.

I find that something light weight and white does the trick (a tea towel). Do you really need ‘black out’ for solar observing?

Very good! How true....
Although my collection has shrunk back to the essential 3 ish scopes ......

That is a good spot Mark. Did you catch the Bear Paw Galaxy (NGC 2537) in the same fov?
