If you're content with a 72 to 76 degree field, the TV Delos and Baader Morpheus might suit you better.  They all have ample eye relief and an easy to take in view.

I went from the ES82° to the 14mm Delos and have been very happy with the move. However.... you can see the lovely crisp field stop due to the long eye relief. The Ethos will give the “floating in space” feeling which encourages you to get really close in to explore the view. I haven’t tried the ES92° range.

Yes! I think I just saw them. Very very faint, pretty much smack bang between Iota Leonis and Chertan. Three fuzzy blobs, all very dim, but very definitely there.

Congratulations. Now that you know what you are looking for, you’ll spot them every time.
I tried for them this evening but could only see two of the three. Turns out that my secondary was half iced over!

Ahh, I detect the slippery slope.

I hit that slope and shelled out for a 21E. What marvellous views it gave.

Then I sold it for exactly what I paid. It funded half a 16” dob😁. As good as money in the bank!

  4. I’m another SLV fan. Have used the 6mm and 5mm variants in a Dob. They are a tidy upgrade to the Starguiders and arguably sharper than the ES 82° shorter focal lengths (compared to the 8.8m ES). However, the 11mm ES 82° is probably the best of the range and is a very fine eyepiece.

Saying that, Don’s Delite suggestion is well worth considering (at a price).

    Hope that this helps.

  5. From the current lineup - Delos 14mm for me. Comfortable, great contrast and lovely shaped stars all the way to the edge!

From the long list of eyepieces that I have owned - the Ethos 21 was special and I enjoyed the planetary views with the Vixen SLV 6mm.

  6. A PST Double stack shows slightly more surface detail than an unstacked Lunt 50mm, but as Peter points out the view is a lot dimmer.

An unstacked Lunt 50mm beats an unstacked PST.

I haven’t tried a double stacked Lunt side by side with a double stacked PST, but can vouch that a double stacked Lunt gives great views.
