First episode was pretty good and sets up a lot of interesting plot lines. Looking forward to the return of Seven of Nine and then thers Mr & Mrs Riker (Will Riker and Deanna Troi).
Oh Seven of Nine, she looks better now even though she has aged..

Sadly the 550D turned out to be a 350D 😣 , so I won't be going for it after all. Never mind, maybe next time! I may look on some websites though and see what's about.
Thanks to everyone for chipping-in their thoughts - much appreciated
Try MPB photographic and Wex for used cameras or lenses...

Another happy Affinity Photo user here, I did use PS CS6 for ages but it does not support the latest Canon RAW files anymore and didn't want the faff of having to convert them. The transition to AP was painless with its good layout and user interface plus it has many more features too at what I consider a bargain price.

Then there is the processing. I'm under the impression that PixInsigth accepts Fuji raw files, so that might be the way to go. I haven't yet tried. DSS does not understand Fuji raw files, so I would have to make tiffs from each frame to enable DSS to process them. I did that for my first attempt. It works, both those tiff files are about 130MB a pop, which means that things will get pretty intense for larger projects. 😃
The free adobe DNG converter will convert any RAWS into the "digital negative" format that any post processing package can use, it also does batch processing so is quite efficient. DNG converter is something I use as my Photoshop version cant handle my Canon RAWs.

The 550D along with the 60D are the only Canon cameras that have a true 1:1 video crop mode as far as I know for fast frame capture for Planets etc, the rest of the specs are similar to the 600D.

Which models in particular? No need for modification would be a welcome prospect. Actually, my Fuji X-T3 should be a pretty good performer in that regard. Unfortunately the thorough lack of support from any astro utilities makes any attempts at proper deep sky photography a very laborious process. Which is why I am now looking at an additional camera to do that job.
As a general guide the latest models do seem to have slightly better Ha response, I would never mod my 80D for instance and I think the 6D is fine as well although modding will always increase sensitivity....My personal view is that Canon try and match the maximum bandwidth to there lenses as if you go too far then you will get star bloat etc.

There are a few Canon cameras that have plenty of Ha response out of the box.

Not sure if its already been covered but have you used the same USB socket each time?

I believe the voyager is mans greatest achievement in space exploration but would be interested in which star they will meet first and if us humans will be waiting to greet them?

Isopropyl is fine but ideally needs to be diluted with distilled water, the problem with any "wet" cleaner is that it will dissolve a speck of grease but then deposit as a smear when it evaporates, you then end up with constant rubbing with a cloth to finish off so I never use any wet cleaners.

Good, my 6D has C1 and C2 custom positions on the dial, but I've never felt the need to use them in Deep Sky, which is all I do.
Michael
I find my two custom settings very useful as I can never remember what state I have left the normal ones in and things like reduced ISO range or mirror lockup etc might not be what you want for a daytime shot.
In your case you could have them optimized for Luna/Planetary and Deep Sky.

That's interesting Alan, what settings do you store?
Michael
The custom setup allows you to store any of the cameras features on the mode dial so for example you could have it set to manual/bulb/mirror lockup/ISO setting/white balance/f/stop if using a camera lens etc. My camera has two custom settings, I have one set for NTSC video and the other for nightscapes.

The 60D is actually far better than the 600D, It has also has many more features including a custom option on the mode dial that lets you lock in any AP settings you want to use, it also uses the Canon "pro" camera batteries so if you ever add a 5d/6d/7d it will use the same ones.

I think some on this site have used the"DSLR controller" or "DSLR remote" app, cant remember which in conjunction with an OTG cable to control their camera with a phone/tablet.

In general the the four digit cameras like the xxxxD are basic entry level models, the three digit ones xxxD have better noise performance and more features like mirror lock up, the two digit ones are usually a more rugged have many more features like micro focus adjustment for lenses etc, the single digit cameras are the pro models..
The first number is usually and indication of manufacture date so the series might go something like 300D/400D/500D etc with all the models having similar design features but big improvements in performance with each step..

I too would opt for the 450D, it is well supported by applications like APT and BYEOS and has liveview which is pretty much vital for AP. Have a look on the WEX or MPB photographic sites if you want a bargain.

Looks in focus to me so it will be on the sensor surface..
