      I use wool long johns and my snowmobile suit. These suits are meant to keep you warm @ 80mph on a sled :icon_biggrin: The suit uses high bibs that keep the core warmth in and the jacket seals the deal. Except for the hands, I'm not cold out there really. Mind you if I'm too lazy to put the suit on it gets interesting....

      Don't you just love it when your ears are so cold they feel like "busting off"?!:grin:

      Yes, we have winter diesel fuel, summer fuel will "gel" in the cold - this is bad news when it happens. Propane will gel at about -44F-they sell tank heaters here...

      The coldest temp was -46F (maybe a bit colder depending on the source) here with no wind a few years ago.

      I sure like the Mobil 1 0w/20w synthetic... my truck fires right up and not plugged in... I checked a bunch of oil (glue) and the cold makes wax come out of some of it. The Mobil is good however and pours easily.

    30 hrs no power from the ice storm, then the net collapsed for 6. I'm sure glad the views make up for some of the weather lol!

      Sometimes a storm with wet snow/sleet and rain will hit with dropping temps coating trees, power lines and everything else with ice. The hwy the other night was covered at first in slush/snow and then clear ice... the worst storms are with high winds which will snap trees, towers etc. We could only do 10-20mph on the way home with blowing snow cutting visibility to zero at times.

      These storms can create beautiful effects ironically.

      I need a generator... the woodstove is a must and the propane cook stove is pretty handy too. I ran a couple of lights and the stove fan off a battery with a small inverter and can charge them with my truck. The 10W high lumen LED house lights are great, sure glad the Gov't gave us some lol!

      Its going -5c tonight maybe a bit more.

    The new 5mm and 6mm Circle T's from grumpymartian are superb! Great detail on Jupiter showing with the SW120ED. These eyepieces are keepers for sure!

      I find the volcano tops friendly at shorter eyerelief's Alan and yes the views are very good. Most importantly the seeing in my new spot seems good, for the local thermals.
