Just placed a huge order that i'm really excited about now:
SX Trius 694 Mono
SX 7 position filter wheel
EDGE 1100 Reducer
SX - OAG for filter wheel
Baader LRGB
Baader HA, OIII, SII
Will probably take a few weeks to possibly a month to arrive though, hopefully the skies will clear, either that or i've ruined the whole summer for everyone
Daniel just checking in this order.....was wondering why I drove to MR, and got rained on when Scope nights said it was 'good' all day ;-)...I assume some of it arrived on Wednesday? LOL.
kf not then we are doomed....

Wow ...nice....already bookmarked!
-
Looks like they do a VX kit as well......damn it.....must resist.....
-
now that looks preeeety!
-
I really need to come over and look at your setup Dan.....! talk about envy!

Really nice set-up now Dan....
Must admit that I have not touched or looked at the collimation, except for star tests, and it appears to be fine, but as you say....I probably do not know what 'fine' should look like. Might be good to meet up at some point, and bring the 800 over....
I did go out last night, but clouds rolled over and that was it! and started to dew up....really low dew point last night so it would appear. I just have the ordinary shield, not the heated one....would be nice to have some power at some point as well! still don't really know whether the mount works or not!
-
Nope....I have chased...Mind you the sky has been awful the last week or so....the only nights that were clear I had already had a drink ;-)
-
Dan, nope...well only to manually move it around ;-) was impressed though. Still awaiting the female cig lighter with M8 rings....I could power it via the car, but don't fancy standing out the front of the house!
I will have a play with the set-up for a while, then I guess I will go for a focal reducer, and a DSLR to start with. then it will be an ASI 120MM (this is what I am leaning towards).
Hows that 1100 and the CGEM? lovely piece of kit!
-
yer..out the front....had thought about it ;-)
-
I do have have a Maplins external 12v setup (already have power outside), but they could not send the female cig lighter adapter ..so its about 7 days away....I can wait..waited this long, and as you say...I do admire it as I walk through the lounge ;-)
-
My exciting new purchase:
A new mug of Coffee Dave? looks nice though ;-)
Thanks Knobby, yes very happy so far...we will see if I can get my head around the APSA routine when I next use it (when I get some power!)
-
Look what landed yesterday.....
Shame the female cig lighter power adapter was delayed....still managed to get out last night to set-up the finder scope..and thought I might as well manually move it around and look at stuff (Mars, Jupiter, Moon, and a couple of doubles). very impressed! Once I get the power I will try and do some more focal stuff until I can save for cameras etc...
At last!!!!!

Looking forward to some awesome images from you now
Looks like he has already started ;-)
Great start as well!
-
p.s. sorry Steve!
at least I'll know all the niggles when you get yours
No worries Gary.
Its like I now have a try before you buy ;-) Please report back on your first light. really still struggling between the 8 and basic 9.25.....regardless I still need to sort out power, so looking like it will be later this year before I eventually get sorted fully. Tumble dryers just gone wrong as well....oh well...the stars will still be there when I get s new set-up.
Good luck with it.

Rob,
Great post. Also tried to send another note of thanks to you for the advice 're TAL and EP choice but could not get it through to you. Apologies for the delay in response, had to travel to the states...and first chance to say cheers.
Keep on posting :-)
Thanks and apologies once again.

That is a serious mount.....and the weight of it is?
so that looks like the starter imaging mount and tripod then? very nice....
-
Not sure yet...apparently the lens coating of the R is slightly better than the newer model...might keep both and then get another mount, and pass the R onto here at some point...then we both have scopes.
will look at eyepieces, but got another good range with the older scope, plus a 2 x barlow, and camera adapter..willsee what things look like and do some research...might look through some of the ones you have!
-
Thanks Gents....now all I need to do is fit it all together, and learn how to polar align...at least I know where Polaris is....when there is no cloud!
-
-
THEY ARE HERE!!!!!...all in god nick....they packed the 100RS in two boxes with poly wedges in between! and the 100 RS is in its original Russian made wooden box...its beast with the mount and tripod in there as well.
wil sort some piccies out a bit later on.
now I just need to put the things together...but as you say Knobby...I got a few poor days to sort out the balancng and align the finder....
-
Right... Delivery day take two.....funnily enough both the 100RS and the 100R should arrvie today (will throw some pics up later). Just checked the delivery tracker and they are on the same van.
Lets just hope the driver knows they are optical instruments...and not to throw them around.
So i can now guarantee there will be clouds this evening gents, and i apologise for that.

was not too bad in Hockley either...
-
yer kindle speak....
-
earpieces.....Damn this autospell
of course it is eyepieces...and they seem to be different sizes to the ones that come with the RS...so should have a good spread of magnification.

Happy Brithday to me (Next Monday), Happy Birthday to me (Next Monday)......repeat....
Sorry all....I could not resist one of these any longer....oh well, at least I can't moan that the stock focuser is poor anymore.
This an a focus mask arrived....so now have to start saving all over again for a camera.....guide scope, guide camera, new WO Star 71....the list goes on...
Anyway enjoy with me (can't stop fiddling with it!...I know I will go blind)). The only snag is as this weighs in at roughly 3 metric tonnes (8-)) I will now need to weigh down the front of the scope with another counter weight!
