Some very nice images there Trevor but the Clavius/Tycho image is the stand out one for me. The detail in this image is excellent you certainly captured a window of good seeing with this one.
Thanks Martyn. I always seem drawn to that area if it’s visible. Clavius particularly for some reason. The small craterlets on the floor are always a good challenge

Some good resolution there Trevor well done. Did you use a filter ?
Thanks Neil. Yes, I used a 685 IR filter. It made quite a difference even looking at the screen. Once the seeing changed that was it. I don’t think I’ve seen such a rapid change before. If I had set up later I don’t think I would have got anything usable to be honest. Seems a bit like fishing. You never know what you’ll get even when it is clear 😃😃

Loads of fine detail there Neil as usual 👍👍

Great shots Mike but I would also vote for the first image. The detail, smoothness and realism ( if that makes sense) are spot on. Excellent work. Trevor

That’s a fine image Carole. Shows what can be done even near a major city. I would be very pleased with that one

Very smooth Mike. It’s such a fine line between realistic and overdoing the sharpening but that looks spot on to me.

Great shots Pete. I would be more than happy with those. Particularly like the straight wall area 👍

Fine set of images as usual Neil 👍👍

Brilliant ! Smooth and very realistic. Can’t say much more than that. I would be more than happy to eventually get anywhere near that level 👍

That’s a good image Neil. Those small refractors certainly have a place with lunar photography.

About 40 degrees last night reasonable seeing. The bresser chinese achro is very focusing critical. I find a slight turn of the focuser can make the difference between a sharp and soft stack. Not easy manually as a lot of shake on a EQ5 but pretty much got close last night i think. Quite pleased with this. Dont forget its only 5 " and mass produced chinese optics. They all show varying degrees of under or over corrected lenses. But this doesnt stop them performing. Infact after getting a certain jupiter image with this scope i was convinced it was a good one. But for one reason or another seemed hard to coax good lunar performance out of it. likely that critical focussing. And not nailing it. And Filter choice is important with these refractors. I used the Baarder 495nm longpass stacked with a QHY UV IR CUT. Under good seeing it really sharpens up these chinese optics. Put new flocking on the dew sheild. and made a dew shield extension. Helps with that street light i have to capture above.
Captured at F8 drizzled 1.5 downsized to 51 60 75 % the 75% holding quite well i think.
That’s a really good image Neil. You have certainly made the 127 “sing” as you hoped for. Loads of fine detail there. I’m blessed with no street lights yet around here but over the years neighbours seem intent on burning more and more outside lights, often from dusk to dawn. Some of the properties are like Blackpool illuminations !!

Hello Neil. If I ever get anywhere near that level I will be more than happy. Agree totally with Mike. That is one heck of a picture. The detail and smoothness are nothing short of brilliant. All of us who have dabbled in this game will know how time consuming and complicated it is to get an image like that. I take my hat off to you.

I am fortunate enough to be able to keep it out side in a box, which i store in my home observatory.
That makes sense Pete. Thanks. I think I will have to try similar. Cool down seems an issue for me this time of year.

Thanks Chris. If the conditions are right and it’s allowed time to cool it does a good job. I’ve been pleased with it. Trevor
