Your spec is fine, get a NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB to pop in for : c drive
and get a usb caddy for a 2.5" SSD, and you can swap storage drives as needed

Just downloaded the manual and had a look, there's a section in there right down on page 351 which goes through the steps of if the camera won't fire off when the shutter is pressed and then on page 314 - 317 is what modes are available with what types of lenses.
Not finding the menu options I need

I think (as it's been a couple of years since I've had my hands on a D5x00 series), in the custom menu, setting A1, change that option to "release" and then set the focus to AF-C or Manual.
Not finding anything in the camera settings or manual that helps

I put a t ring on my nikon D5500, hook it up to the scope, but shutter button presses down, but doesnt release, so wont take a shot
Makes no difference what mode camera is in, cant be the camera, as a teleconverter works just fine
Is it the wrong t-ring, it said nikon when I brought it. I can view through the scope with the camera, but cant take a photo
Any ideas ?

Thanks all, I was trying to add in the “about me” section, never thought to look in account settings. I also need more than 10 posts to enable the feature which this reply does for me !
thanks again
Graham

Confirmation from Neil Carboni
I'm sorry, no, Astronomy Tools actions only work with Photoshop.
Our plug-ins, AstroFlat Pro, StarSpikes Pro 4, and StarFilter Pro 4, by contrast do work with Affinity Photo
Cheers Peter, will have a look see

A newcomer coming up on the rails so to speak is Affinity Photo, it was a cheaper alternative to PS a year or so ago, but now it has built in dedicated Astro functionality including calibration and stacking, who can say what other Astro features it might have in another 12 months?
Affinity photo is the new kid on the block, it has only just release their new astro tools, give it some time to develop, and it will be the main goto progam to use. IMO I find it user frendly, all it really needs now is PS plug-in combatibility, , and it will be the main goto app. As for the price, its as cheap as chips, so grab it while you can

But I don't think that it's advanced enough yet
basic yes, but it works, give it time, pretty sure it will turm out well. To me it seems much more friendly & initutitive to use, and the price is an outright bargin
