    Hi Folks,

One more question. I see you can buy Adobe Elements and Premier on eBay for around £10 or Elements 6 for the same price. Excuse my ignorance, but will this software be suitable?

    Thanks

    Simon

At that price I would read throught he decription  its, likely a rip off boot leg copy

I've been using PL2 and now PL3 for around a year, mainly for daytime but also astro photo processing (later stages only). I really like the enhancement and noise reduction functions, particularly for DSLR images.

It's now my goto app for daytime images.

I would be using it only with my Nikon d5500 and mainly for daytime stuff. Im using Dxo ATM, so looks like an upgrade might be worth it

Mine's legit but why would I want to register it?  (Genuine question.) I felt no need to give Adobe any information about me.

    Olly

Simple answer, Updates, but like you I am adverse in giving anyone info about my details, which is why I use a junk mail box, setup up to delete at the server end, so I dont get to see any junk unwanted mail

I would avoid eBay for software, most is pirated and you will find PS will block you. Should you find and acquire a genuine older version you will have a devils job getting PS to accept and register your copy.  Monthly PS is very expensive  in the long term.  Given you will be new to AP, might I suggest Nebulosity 4.0 is a very good value capture and post processing package. I found it was excellent for the beginner and will enable you to compile images quickly using simple functions. There are great tutorials online that will take you through the complete process.

While I use Pixinsight now, I still use Nebulosity if I want to compile a quick image. At this stage I would keep it simple otherwise you will get disheartened. Good luck with your choice.

I'm in a lucky position, in that I am able if I wanted, too get a student/teacher licence, which is currently just £95. but will be trying out Gimp first for a basic grounding

Yes, I think the monthly rental idea stinks, quite honestly. I hope it fails and they drop it.

    Olly

Ditto on that, everyone seems to want a monthly slice of your pocket these days, so if its eg. £10 a month, thats £120 a year, and you may have the software for how many years? work out the cost of that compared too how software use to be brought outright

    1. Once EQMOD installed and connected (see (2)) APT will connect via EQMOD Ascom HEQ5/6 driver(via Ascom Chooser) when you hit and choose the correct option under "gear" tab "Connect" scope. Dont try and start Ascom by itself its not designed to work that way.

    2. When Bluetooth connected  before doing (1) above you should see another COM port in device settings - thats the one you use - so look at devices before pairing to see what COM devices are defined. Then pair and recheck devices to see new COM port. The later is the one used in (1) above.

Cheers for that, at least Im on the right track, com ports I can deal with too

  7. have installed Ascom, & my camera drivers with ST4 driver which is now showing in Ascom

    but now what ?

Thinking I need to also install EQmod for my EQ6, but how to use this with APT & stellarium, sky safari ect, I also need to use the bluetooth dongle on the EQ6

    What's needed for that

    Cheers peeps

Where I have that thick vertical line is the furthest the lens will turn towards the 8.  So it is sitting on an L, could you clarify this please.

    Thanks

The numbers 11. 16. 22. when matched with the F stop, will give you depth of field

You wont need to use them for astro

  9. Starting up the old EQ6, upgraded the old puck, and now has a dual vixen/losmandy saddle

As funds allow, will be adding a larger saddle, to then fit a larger losmandy plate with two saddles to make a side by side setup

This mount has a bluetooth dongle, so hopefully once setup, I wont need to use the handset
