  1. I've been looking into this a little bit and Istar do a 100mm f/12 for 335 pounds plus shipping (US?), the only thing is I can buy the entire Lyra Optic 4" f/11 for less. (which is tempting). Then there is this 104mm f/12 for 120 shipped, but there are no mention of coatings which means a loss of contrast and 4% light off the bat. http://www.astrophoto.co.uk/surplusobjectives.php Can't find any 4" f13-15's, I would have to grind one up I reckon
  2. Wow Chris you made this! Now this is what I've been thinking of recently Long fracs have such inherently low spherical aberration, CA, and good depth of focus yet the only f13-15's available now days seem to be the lovely but obviously expensive Skylights and Moonrakers, although I think Antares of Cananade do an f/13. I wish they still sold 'budget' f15's, they don't have to be particularly well figured as high f/ratio is so forgiving. I've started looking at building my own 4" f/13-15.
  3. Paul, I think you've just played an Ace card, what a frac! I've just got to ask so please forgive me, what is that on your avatar??
  4. Looks great Dave I was a bit slow off the mark when one of these came up for sale in my home town the other week so missed it I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it and how it performs? Looks a beast!
  5. Nah it would be good, green and red are nice traditional Christmas colours, they definately go together Or you could switch to ES Eyepieces
  6. Skylights are my preference in style also, albeit I do like the candy apple red and brass versions that Richard does. I do very much like the Rocket model from Moonraker as it's relatively subtle, although it is still metallic red which although I appreciate some might find it a bit loud, I love Each to their own I guess
  7. I can't help but admire the turning on the Moonrakers. Roberto, yours is beautiful! What is that a 3.5" focuser? I really like the look of the Moonraker Rocket 4" f/11. I was wondering if this has the same optics as the Starwave, Lyra Optics, and TS 4" f/11's ?
  8. Jaegers, I've seen that name in the description of some of the Moonraker scopes. I noticed that they seem to sell first! They must be good
  9. That's pretty cool, definitely the oldest scope on the thread by some way I should think.
  10. I bet Richard Day took a deep breath when you commissioned him to build that bad boy! Who makes the lens? is it Televue like with his 4" f/15's?
  11. The 60mm would make a cracking finder for it! Great job on the mount by the way, it looks perfect for the scope You must be strong to set this up and take it down!
  12. That's the cutest white light setup I think I've seen Paul
  13. I'm drooling at both the fracs and the scenery Olly
  14. Thanks for that Fozzie, very helpful Also as an SLV owner I look forward to that eyepiece review
  15. Hi John, Agena astro in the US used to do an adaptor for the C100ED so you could fit something like a TS monorail, but they have now stopped doing them As you know Moonlite do a flange for most scopes including this one but we're talking about 350 pounds to find. Otherwise it's which annoys me more out of some CA or the C100ED focuser, Hmmm? I think it depends on how much CA. Anyway sorry I digress from the thread
  16. Lovely collection Marki, hard to beat
  17. Fozzie - that looks like a great setup! it's quite a big frac that Altair f/11, looks great on the Skytee with the pier extension. How is the focuser and chromatic aberration on the Altair f/11? I'm not getting on with the focuser on the C100ED, even though it has literally no CA I'm thinking of swapping it for a long achro with a nicer focuser, either that or buy a Moonlite for it.
  18. That's it, get the little one interested at an early age
  19. What! I've just looked at your sig and it's a very respectable 4" f/11. I thought we were talking about a little ED70 or something, and even that's a nice little scope. I posted my little 60mm
  20. The dew shield is nearly as big as my C8 ! I'm surprised I forgot about that thread, I commented at the time as well.
  21. Noooo! don't lock it! Starwave! starwave! starwave! Go on, post the pic
  22. Holy mackerel, I'm going to look for that picture!
  23. I very much like your taste in scopes You're joking about having a 6" f/15 right??
