  1. Following on from Stu's post , another image into the forum with an unusual colour palette. Visualising the i´and z-s´photometric filters requires some creativity wrt to the entire colour palette - I chose the following approximate starting points: g´=> mid blue O-III => cyan Ha => yellow S-II => sunset orange i´=> crimson z-s´=> purple Stars are from the monochrome S-II integration. Calibration, Registration, Integration in APP, further processing to taste in PS. The viewing conditions were not as good as was hoped (Rhön, Germany) with intermittent thin cloud and dew that fell with a particularly heavy "thud" 😉 , still most of the data was usable ... Total time: 11.5 hrs / ISO 400 Celestron RASA11 10Micron GM1000 HPS SIGMA fp L (monochrome) Baader ultra-fast narrowband and SLOAN/SDSS photometric filters Now that an ASCOM driver is available for the SIGMA fp L this was my first time in the field with NINA / Hocus Focus to focus the RASA - very pleased with how well that went (and how much time it saved vs. my older manual methods) Here the result: Clear Skies! Mark
  2. Very nice - like the choice of colour palette makes the Lobster Claw much more interesting ... well worth going into the large view for a look round the image ... Mark
  3. I think the more appropriate question, is which one you prefer 😃 ... Both versions have their merits - I think if you blended both versions, each person here would give a different answer as to what % mix they personally prefer. I like the "hard" version a lot, though the "softer" version shows there is more detail to be had in the rim than the "hard" version shows. I think i would go for an 80/20 blend in the direction of the hard version - but that's a very personal thing ... if it was my data, I would look to add a second panel below the first at some point in the future, when I had a "spare" night (as if there were such a thing) - a touch of icing on the cake as it were ...
  4. The RGB data adds a very nice touch to the overall composition - a very nice result!
  5. The final result is very nice - but, an algorithm can only work with the data given - you gave it a very nice starting point I feel ...
  6. Very nice results - both the close-up and widefield view - I am always amazed what a RASA will pick-up if you put it under a relatively dark sky ... and you are right, NGC2179 is a very nice little nebula. Is the TEC140 data narrowband or RGB?
  7. I am always amazed with the ingenuity by which people arrive at the results they do - very impressive result with lovely detail! 👍 With so many exposures are you using some "lucky imaging" sorting to find the better subs or are all of the subs ending up in the final stack ? ... Is 3000 enough for "lucky imaging" ?
  8. Great processing - nice result! Too black? No, definitely not ...
  9. Thanks Roy, and thanks (to everyone) for the warm welcome ...
  10. Thanks Mandy, its always exciting to see what the RASA can capture ...
  11. First post here, "Hi" to all, with a "counter season" post for the northern hemisphere ... The main background structures are from a the Ha integration. The red highlights are also from the Ha data. The yellow highlights from SII data. Stars from the Ha integration. Calibration, registration, integration in APP, further processing to taste in PS. Ca. 9 hrs total Celestron RASA 11 10 Micron GM1000 HPS SIGMA fp L (monochrome) Baader Ha/SII ultra-highspeed narrowband filters A work in progress with the aim of adding more panels on all four sides including some additional filters ... I've rebuilt the camera train on the RASA 11 (twice) since this data was collected (Winter 22/23) and a couple of panels will need to be reshot. 100% View (16100 x 14000px) Thanks for taking the time, Mark
