Hi and welcome I'm sure you will find lots of advice here when you need it.

That's a great image nice detail and only. 2nd attempt 👏

Hi I think the reason why DSS only finds ,3 stars is that you need to move the slider,I think it's under advanced or other settings,it should then recognize more stars and Stack your images, this is of course if you're exposure time is long enough. Also I agree with others use the equipment you have to experiment and that way learn more. Its the mistakes we make that teach us more👍

I get the same with my DSLR. I used to flip the to all the same orientation before stacking in DSS but got fed up with that so I just stacked them as is and DSS stacks them no prob😃

Great images 👍must have a go at it myself

If you are going to use your mobile you might invest in one of the camera holders made for imaging rather than holding it to the eyepiece, if that is the way you are doing it.
-
I think as already been said your mobil is focusing the inside of the tube, have you taken any images of the moon with your mobil, and if so did you get some surface detail
-
From your image I would say you are using a reflector telescope the obstruction you see is the secondary mirror support ,also image looks out of focus 🤔

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 👀

I would go for the cleaning kit ,it is what I use.As far as " poking it with a stick" I use a cotton bud👍
-
Have you tried instructing mount to go to home position
-
Hi it is possible to gain some extra focusing distance by removing the focusing stop located behind the rubber focus grip 👍
-
Not a failure as it stopped you wondering 🤔

Hi most imagers if not all use DSLRs now , film is not used much now I myself know no one who dose.dslr or dedicated cooled cameras are the norm. However I'm sure someone out there may we'll be experimenting with film perhaps just for the experience 🤔🌠

Are you sure about that? Using my ASIAir plus with the AM5, the way I had to reset the home position was to use the mount's hand controller and set its position through that. Of course, with the EQ6 things might be different, and the latest firmware may be different.

All I am going of is someone I spoke to some time ago about this.I use a HEQ5 with the wifi dongle, at the end of the session I have the option to park in home position or the last position so that would be however I positioned it. Phil.

Hi
Unless you're directly below one, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised. The light-up-the-sky lamps of old have been replaced by well designed low energy versions. The moon is likely to form far more of a challenge.
Here's a worst case scenario; shot from around 10km north of Alicante a few days before San Juan. Yes, there's contamination:
... but with modern gradient removal algorithms, a few taps and you're ready to process.
If you really are troubled by this, you have access to a very low contamination zone looking south east over the Mediterranean: the beach😉
Cheers and HTH
Thanks now I know what to expect, most of my imaging is from north to the south east .Thanks for your reply and the imaging examples.

That is what imaging is all about for me, I have taken it and that alone is its own reward🌠😃

Hi when you turn on the asiair whatever position your scope is in the asiair will consider that as home position and so will return there at the end of your imaging session. This is my understanding of customized home position 👍

To be honest I wouldn't really know what kind of problem led may cause. The lights in my area have shade on the top so light is directed down, but some must be reflected up.Just thought it might wise to get a filter.Do you have any ideas on what problem they cause, I use a optolong L pro filter . Any thoughts would be appreciated 👍
-
Ok thanks for the info,I will have a look at the filters you mentioned
-
Hi here in Spain led lights are popping up everywhere.Has anyone out there got. any views or experience with the filters to try and combat this problem

Hi the two I use are WO 81mm gt and WO 103 the latter is around 700mm FL on a HEQ5 mount, just my choice like as been said it takes a while to get the setup your happy with, if that possible in this game 🤔🌠
Belt modding and upgrade an old EQ3-2: where to start/worth it?

As said think you would be better with HEQ5 . Not sure what the cost of a belt assembly would be ,that's if you can get one,but the hand control will probably be over 120 £ . Hope you get it sorted.
