  1. Thanks Dave, I am currently looking an USB chargeable air duster. It can be used on my drones as well... Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Compressed-Air-Duster-Cleaner/dp/B0B2DLZF8L/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=laKm8&content-id=amzn1.sym.31c9090c-9b65-4f91-bf37-04dd92281172&pf_rd_p=31c9090c-9b65-4f91-bf37-04dd92281172&pf_rd_r=D15YSWFT4WSTDWNPCP20&pd_rd_wg=avGvv&pd_rd_r=535046f9-24f3-401b-81a1-637474d922b0&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mi I will have a look on the Baader stuff.
  2. Very good point, thank you. Been there, done that with a DSLR camera
  3. Trust me, I searched on the forum, but couldn't find any specific related to this topic. So, I have some OCD and I really enjoy to keep my gear clean and organized, I can spend hours on it ( this paid off very well on my super light camping gears so far on the long run). Now started to develop a collection of astro related stuff, I would like to get as much info as possible about the aftercare. If you have any top tips, please don't hesitate to share. My understanding so far: - compressed air - camel brush - microfiber Do you use any kind of specific cleaning products?
  4. I am pretty new around here and maybe not the right answer, but after a fair amount of research I ordered an Opticron Adventurer WP 10X50. I am well happy with it so far (this is my first bino in years....ok 25 years). I used to use Russian ones in my child and teenagerhood 30 years back. We just back from an Outer Hebrides trip and we used it a lot ( for planetary was awesome, also managed M31, Seven Sisters, lots of sea birds, dolphins and an otter). The quality looks decent for the price, only "rubbish" stuff on it the very loose rain guards and easily falling off lens protectors.
  5. Amazon men paid a visit for us, just in time. We are off to Outer Hebrides on Monday. After long an excessive research and many good advice from members, I got the Amazon Basic tripod and the Opticron Adventurer T WP 10x50. (I straight wanted to go for 20x80, but to have multiple use and do some wildlife watching, decided to start with smaller) Going to try it out tonight.
  6. Kobi looks beautiful. I know, they leave massive black hole behind in your heart. Miles is a Greek Harehound mix (most likely with a Segugio Italiano). We saved him from Greece, he was born as a stray pup. He is a good boy, but super anxious about people and bicycles. He is with us 8 months and getting better day by day, but slow process. He loves our stargazing sessions, he is doing grassgazing 🤣
  7. Brill, thank you. Is this the Amazon Basic tripod? Just ordered one yesterday
  8. Awesome, thank you. Do I need anything else to fit the bino? I am thinking about the Opticron Oregon 20X80
  9. I am just wondering, how is your tripod holding up? I am in a last minute shopping decision. We are off to Outer Hebrides on Sunday and no way to fit my 200 DOB in the car, so came up with a "brilliant" idea last night...get an Opticron 20X80 + a pistol grip to my tripod (also would be beneficial for spotting eagles, otters and seals during the day). Of course I can't find any pistol grip for next day delivery, so I came across of the tripod what you are using... Do you think it can handle the 20X80 giant?
  10. Any chance, is the Telegizmos waterproof as well? I want to leave my new Dob outside, but I live in Scotland. So it needs to be Scottish-rain proof...
  11. Can't wait to get outside of the city and do some nice session on a dark site. Yep, I was reading up on the magnification just now and like other things in life, I have to stay realistic...
  12. I realized that, having a long list already... PS: I know a left kidney for sale....
  13. Haha, looks like it is a bottomless hole... Yes, I am warming up Marketplace and eBay to do an online garage sale
  14. Thank you for the warm welcome, it is amazing to see a place without ego and snobbery... My wife is asking, when I am going to have access for the buy-sale section, so she knows when to pull the plug and hide the computer cable Joke aside, how long do you need to be member before you can access? Possible, I am after some different eyepieces (already....).
  15. After assembling my new SkyWatcher 200 yesterday the sky was littered with thick cloud cover last night (of course....). I was hoping a bit for some clear sky early morning. I set the alarm for 4 o'clock. After I woke up and dragged myself out to the garden, sadly noted, we had only one clear patch top of our house. I penguin walked out the Dob and played with it 10-15 minutes before more cloud shifted in. I gave up a bit, so started to cook lunch (4;30 in the morning...oh well), done the washing up and prepared fresh coffee for the other half (taking on a new hobby which involves buying new stuff again and finding space for it next to our 6 tents, 30 camping stoves, 100 pairs of trail running shoes and big boxes of drone parts, I really need to be a good boy). A little bit after 5, I peaked out to the sky and oh Lord. Jupiter is in clear view (not in the best position as was low and neighbour's garden looks like Heathrow Airport's landing strip in night time), but he was there. I am going to be honest, I haven't been that excited in years. Butterflies in the stomach, sweaty arm pits and shaking hands. And I got it, first time in my life ( I seen it before on pictures only) I saw Jupiter with four moons around it. I used the 25mm eyepiece to center it, than 2X barlow and 8mm eyepiece. I quickly screamed wife out from the bed (I am pretty sure the3 neighbours were well impressed )and we had a good 15 minutes observing before started to be to bright. She was well impressed and now she talks about to get a smaller, more transportable scope as well (I hope she is ok?!). It was a bit all over the place session, too much flapping around and rushing with the eyepiece changes, but hey ho, I will get there. Would love to capture some videos with my phone next time. Now, going to have a busy morning to calculate and try to figure out what kind of other eyepieces we need.
  16. Sounds good, but the hound is going to be very unhappy.
  17. Now, having a bazuka size Skywatcher 200 DOB, trying to figure out, how should I protect it in transport. The base is easy, will put it in the car boot. Eyepieces also (nearly) sorted, just looking for a nice hard case at the moment. The telescope itself is the question. I have enough space in the car boot or roof box (the perk of this, the telescope is going to cool down already, when we will get to the chosen site), which is good. I was thinking about some kind of soft case (at the moment, I am going to use the original box...). Anyone has any good suggestion? I was looking on the web, but not many options. Any kind of advice welcome.
  18. Oh well, looks like Inverness is sitting on the top of RainEverest
  19. These two boxes arrived (of course with full cloud cover 🤣) Super quick delivery from FLO. Order was placed on Friday morning and made it to the Highlands this morning. End of the wobble era...here is my new DOB. The dog hates it, he is freaking out
  20. The link is brill, thank you. Actually we live 7 minutes drive from Loch Ness and 15 minutes from Culloden battlefield.
  21. Looks like I skipped the kind of introduction part and jumped straight in the deep water with my dummy questions a few days ago.... So lets try it now. So here is my life story. Hi everyone ( I interacted with a few of you already, thank you for your patience, recent help and advice), After 16 years living in London (I am originally from Hungary) and many years talking about moving to Scotland, finally we managed to pull it off. From 2nd of July 2022, we are officially residents of Inverness. Happy days, we love outdoors (avid wild camper, long distance hiker, ultra light maniac, trail runner) and our rescue dog is having his best life ever. As a kid (I am old now...ok, 40), I visited the planetarium in Budapest multiple time and I was fascinated. Never managed to progress further with any kind of astro related topic. Last year we visited Outer Hebrides for 3 weeks and after many clear sky nights, me and my wife started to grow some interest and decided to get a telescope. 1 year later, actually managed to get my first scope, which one drove me crazy in 3 days. 7 days later waiting for our first proper DOB from FLO. So glad I found this forum and I can spend hours now, just reading about stuff (still managing to finish washing up and hoovering...) If you live around Inverness and you could suggest some good dark sites in 20-30 minutes radius, I will owe you a pint....
  22. Hey Stu, Thanks for the link. I will have a read through properly tonight. I just had a quick look so far, but yes, I can confirm what you were saying, the NexYZ is pretty wobbly.
  23. Awesome, thank you. I will give a try tomorrow morning (at the moment full on cloud cover in Inverness, but every morning have a 20-30 minutes window to stare the moon). Managed to take this without holder from hand
