Yep, it's because clear skies are so few and far between that we have to desperately make the most of them when they do come along. In other countries with more clear skies it doesn't matter so much if you miss one, there'll be another tomorrow night probably. So yes, we are indeed knackered after a three night clear run, not that we get many of those.
It takes a brave person to leave the rig going at night whilst in bed in this country. I never sleep easily when doing so.
I must admit I never had confidence with SGPro regarding unattended automation. However, I have recently moved over to Voyager and now wouldn't hesitate in unattended imaging sessions. Don't get me wrong, writing a full dragscript code and incorporating full emergency procedures can be daunting to start with. Although, there are lots of examples to use in the Voyager forum.

That's looking good, Francis. It's nice that you have had clear skies this evening to fine tune your scope. Unfortunately, for me, the clear skies promised this evening have not arrived and therefore, my fully automated Dome final testing will have to go on the back burner

What sort of motor is that and where did you get the track from?
From Amazon & not Ebay. Although this shows a 400 RPM motor you will need something a little slower

The motor is a 12v 20 rpm geared motor I picked up from Ebay as a trial motor. At the time I didn't think I could rebuild the shutter to implement automation. I did, the motor is far beefier than I realised and the track and gear were purchased from https://www.beltingonline.com/.
I will try to find the details of the motor, also.

Here is my DIY Dome shutter I built earlier this year. It may not be a roof, but it let's in the night sky

Hi and a very warm welcome back, Nephilim. Yep, AP can be difficult, demanding and expensive. Although, with your new collection you will stand a great chance of collecting some real good images

Hi all,
I noticed that PhD2 (2.6.9) seems to be much more fussy about its guide stars and even a very high, almost imperceptible, haze that is very light will set it off chirping and force a sequence abandon in SGP or NINA. It's so fussy now that if we were to wait for the desert skies it seems to expect then we'd never image anything in the UK.
Is there a way to tell it to be more tolerant - or to tell SGP or NINA to be more accepting of what it is being fed from PhD2???? I must surely have something set wrong since I set this new PC up. I never recall it being so bad before. I am forever in sequence recovery mode even with very, very light haze passing by that used to go unnoticed by PhD.
Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve,
I normally guide at 1 sec in PHD2 and if there is any bad seeing. guide star lost etc I increase the exposure upto 4.5 secs if I need to. Any higher than this, it's not worth imaging and I give up until hopefully it clears.

I've fastened the NEMA17 into the box but not been up to doing anything else recently due to ill health.
I hope it's just a short term illness, Gina and that you get over it fairly quickly.

Yes you can and that is the real beauty of Voyager. You set up the attributes in a script file which is called "dragscript"
Here is my emergency script:-
