Very nicely processed Lee, you have the core how I like it, the brightest part of the nebula as how it should be presented .

A visit to Namibia a number of years ago was the most productive imaging I've ever had and the most amazing skies I've ever seen. Doubt I will get the opportunity to repeat.

Desperate to get out and do some imaging, only 2 clear nights since Jan 1st this year so far. Last night was a cracker. seeing was poor but tried a few crater shots with the Newt.
10" newt, QHY 462C camera, IR850nm filter.
Image soft but love viewing these craters up close.

Hello Craig.
Im pretty new to PI and using GHS, I think possibly you are stretching the background too much, I think its easily done done in GHS. I dont have great success using it .

At 23:07 last night had this message
a small asteroid is heading towards you and will impact between 2:30 and 3:30 UT tonight. Area is still unclear,
It fell over the Channel around 03:00 and has been reported in social media. Bright flash reported through cloud. I was tucked up in bed so missed the warning.
Could I ask which service sent you a notification?
Thanks

Full Moon is a great book and I revisit my copy regularly. I have just broken Apollo Remastered from its cellophane wrapper and have high expectations of it.
I don’t know why but, Harrison Schmitt is the astronaut I would most like to meet.
Visually stunning book, I need to revisit it soon.

I was looking at buying a good quality 3x barlow which would give me the optimum resolution for my scope / camera pixel size. for planet / moon imaging. As I already own a TV x2 barlow is there any advantages / disadvantages to adding an extender to increase the magnification? example a 60 - 70 mm extender would increase the magnification to 3X, far cheaper than purchasing another barlow?

Lovely image.... what kind of frame rates are you getting with your 174?

I bought lots of items from TS before B.....t, was a good service and some kit you could not easily source in the UK, I had my eye on an very nice ONTC newtonian but that option has now gone with the added costs of duty and taxes.

Hi Astroscot2. I just loved hearing all of the interaction from mission control "Go,no go" was a common phrase. I have a cd by the music group "Public Broardcast Service"
It's called The Race for Space. It mixes their music with news commentary about space missions and mission control audio. The track Go is the best with the then flight controller Gene Krantz calling Go no go. And then when Apollo 11 landed he cries out Stay, no stay! Great albu.. look it up.
Had a listen to the album on the way to work this morning, really enjoyed it . I had to have another listen to Apollo 11 by OMD again 😉

Thanks for sharing, will have a watch later
I was listening to the audio of the Apollo 11 landing, really impressed with how calm and collected Collins, Armstrong and particular Buzz who was doing most of the communication , he even drops in a bit of humour at one point while decending at 6000mph towards the surface. I didnt know that Eagle was on auto pilot untill 6000 feet from touchdown. One thing I did notice was Houston continually ensuring all was go, the pressure on Armstrong must of been huge. Definitely the right stuff.

Adam. Bern at MA replaced the camera. All good now thanks.

Hello, Im using Sharpcap for capturing, Ive not been able to get the frame rate much over 55fps as im having to increase the exposure. I will try a few experiments
with and without filter and compare results. I could possibly try more sharpening in post, the images do have a dreamy softness to them.

I really like that James, delicately processed too.

Hello all.
Ive found a renewed interest in imaging the planets and the moon since the Mars opposition, I purchased a new camera for the purpose the QHY462C and im so far pleased with the results, The camera came with an IR pass filter, 850nm which Ive tried on a few occasions to image the moon with variable results, the images seem to have a softness to them and I wonder whether the filter is at all effective or is it my lack of experience.
My understanding from what Ive read is that imaging in IR reduces the effect of atmospheric turbulence however it also at the same time reduces the image resolution? I also find I need to increase the exposure which in turn results in a lower frame rate and makes me wonder if its the right filter for the job?
Ive not had a chance to make image comparisons with the IR filter insitu against the UV/IR blocking filter. I also note that Antalia offer a 650nm filter which I assume would produce a brighter image and therefore allowing faster frames rates.
I just wondered what seasoned lunar imagers are using, I have a couple of example images on my Flikr account as examples of the softness I seem to have to my images, The scope is well collimated and optics clean.
Thanks

I suspect its an internal reflection of Alnitak due to collimation or tile somethere in the image train, stars look a bit distorted.

I was between the SW gti and the AM5. Took a punt at the GTI and glad I did. I have same set up as per your initial post and the Gti carries it with no issues and I'm close to 4kgs. Guiding is good, RMS is between 0.6 - 1 which is good enough for the spacecat 51.
Picture below is pre cable tidy.
