I like using 1 star alignment for several reasons

1- in my limited viewing angles I can choose which star I think should be visible

2- the mount will slew to where it thinks the star selected is

3- I can repeat the one star alignment as many times as I like using different stars to increase the mount's alignment accuracy

That’s what I tired but it was way off target

Hi I also have the bresser 127/1200 refractor with the 224 mc camera , to get focus I have to use all the extensions that came with the telescope then camera don't use a diagonal , use eyepiece first in the back of extension focus this then change to the camera  now wind focuser in towards the scope and it will focus

I didn’t get any extensions with my Bresser 127 - or my startravel 102 I will need to buy them and give it a go

You want a 1.25" extension that slips into where the diagonal went and the camera nosepiece slips into the other end of the extension.

Right well that explains it 🙈 I’ll get one and have another go cheers

  4. Hi the scope was north facing and front end was north so yes - and I don’t have any updates it is as new

alignment was well off on 2 star also

good point on the camera - I will try that but I would of expected at least something but the screen was completely black - could this be due to light pollution?

  5. Hi

tried my azi GTI for the first time tonight with the startravel 102

light pollution killed it with the neighbours kitchen and security lights which didn’t seem to go off at any point so a different location next time is needed!

Also even though I could locate stars to try an alignment the mount slewed to a different direction to the stellarium app on my phone so it was very confusing-

I started off with the scope level and pointing north and try a one star alignment so pretty simple but it didn’t seem to be in line with where the star was at all

(for example Polaris on the app which was clearly Polaris wasn’t where my scope went) any suggestions ?

third issue I had was that my zwo 224 didn’t pick up any images on the laptop screen using sharpcap even though it was fine when I did a day  time test any idea why? Any help would be appreciated

I have for what I have tried on win11 PC has wifi the following connection routine works. PC has latest skywatcher Ascom driver 140 and sharpcap 4.1 pro.

    Have a successful evening

order connected using synscan dongle to az-gti (the dongle I already have has stronger wifi for me)

telescope was facing north level and horizontal, turn on az-gti

1- connect PC wifi to az-gti

2- connect mobile phone wifi (needed I understand)

3- start mobile synscan pro app and connect

I did a one star alignment crudely

4- on pc start ascom and connect

5- start phd2 and connect mount etc. (if using pdh2)

    6- start sharpcap and connect

7- start stellarium and connect  (if using)

every thing is connecting and staying connected

Your image shows right sided mounted assuming telescope is pointing north you'll need the eq firmware for that. Left sided mounted mounting for as shipped firmware (orIMG_1607.thumb.jpeg.3a245126c4b8dbb8561c22cb5d84a1e1.jpegAE68AD0C-D518-4995-BC09-8B910B4E83E4.thumb.jpeg.2e104de22509ff6ef3863a26435387d1.jpeg

  7. no worries - i think i will stick to the app for now as a newbie to EAA I'm keeping it simple for now, align, connect the camera, open Sharpcap and capture - job done  -i might look at this as times goes on and my confidence grows.

A lot of us use the synscan pro app downloaded from the app stores, I think it's also on skywatchers website for download. Installed on a phone it's a convenient way to control the mount once you've connected directly from the controlling device to the azgti via WiFi.

How are you powering the azgti, I've found AA batteries are not wise as you'll find it unresponsive after a few minutes if it even connects via wifi, a mains adaptor or 12v power pack are better.

hi i use a power tank for power rather than Batteries, as i think to make sure i have full power ..just in case. :)

I have the phone app and use it ok, i just wondered about ASCOM to use via my laptop
