And now of course I've lost everything I'd typed. Grrrrrr.

I'm trying to respond to this thread, but every time I submit my original response I just get the existing thread back without an error. No idea why

Strange, is it not, that they wait until it is dark to hold a festival of light?

Reporting focussed on which billionaire got into their rocket first reduces it all to the worst kind of personality culture.
That's a huge element of modern life for many people though

Not recent, but these were captured with a 127 Mak on an EQ3-2 using an SPC900 camera.
And this is with the same OTA and mount, but using an ASI120MC.

Ah, yes, of course. I'd forgotten that bit.

Indiana Jones actually. 😁
I had a feeling it might be. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I think?

I'll have a look into that. If it works as root then it does sound like a possible permissions issue though. It could be worth checking what directory you're actually trying to write files into.
Generally though, I believe SER is a better option than AVI for storing captured data.

As long as we don't start thinking we're owls, we should be fine.
If I think I'm an owl, will anyone give a hoot?

Love this comment in an article about WD40. 😁😁😁
Treating a bicycle chain with WD-40 is about as profitable as trying to extinguish a grease fire with a wet haddock.

You shouldn't knock Dr. Ebeneezer Sibley's Reanimating Solar Tincture until you've tried it though.

WD40 was never designed to be a lubricant.
Very true. However, despite the formulation never having changed according to the manufacturer, it is now marketed as a lubricant amongst many, many other things. I'd not be surprised if someone had claimed that it cures Covid.

You can put as much WD40 as you like on that, but I don't reckon it will fit back on
As far as I'm aware, @ollypenrice still recommends boot polish as a lubricant for threaded fittings.

Had a 1000 Multistrada and a 900 FE superlight, collection now whittled down to Guzzis, a 1980 Le Mans and 1973 GT 850. Yourself?
I still have a '94 900SS that I bought new and a ZZR1100 of similar vintage. There's also a GPZ500 in need of major surgery tucked away in a barn. What I've ridden most recently however (though only up and down the drive) is my daughter's Lexmoto moped. It doesn't go very fast with me on it

Welcome. 900SL? Ducati rider, by any chance?

The observatory machine isn't powered up at the moment, but I think I have mine set to something like "Flip if HA > 0.2 hours", so it should flip after the first sub or two once the target as crossed the meridian (depending on my sub lengths).

They're the ones who never really got on with watching this new-fangled television thing and just stuck with listening to the radiogram?

To me it almost reads as if the author is deliberately trying to obfuscate issues about pollution. Even the use of the words "clean" and "polluted" seem inappropriate in the context of the processes being described.

The same photographer claimed the image below 'was a thing'.
I'm not sure I understand her comment about "the position" of the Moon. One can presumably have it in pretty much any "position" one likes depending on the time of day, and clearly they can't all have been taken at the same time of day. Some look as though they may well have been taken during daylight. Perhaps it's an error in translation (Ho ho, see what I did there?).
As a visualisation of how the Moon appears to change over the course of a month I don't have a problem with it though. Certainly no more than I have with the idea that the Moon has "phases" in the first place.

To get the exposure on the mountain the moon would definitely be blown out with no definition.
I'm struggling with that, I have to admit. The focus on both the Moon and the mountain looks pretty good too, which doesn't quite feel right.

I thought about chucking in a cheeky bid when they were around £160. Think I’ll let them go at this price and above. 😅
Quite
Though at the moment (just under £1300) I'd not say they're outrageously overpriced. I'm sure lots of people (even on SGL) have paid far more for a set of five eyepieces.

Is it worth emailing Jasem and asking if he can make a previous release available for you to download?

I missed this thread initially and having found it now I had to go to Google Earth to find out exactly where Novi Sad is even if you don't live there any more. On my screen, my nearest large town (about 15km away) takes up perhaps ⅛th of the area covered by Novi Sad! (I am embarrassingly ignorant of the geography of what I would describe as "Eastern Europe", I have to admit.)
I've always found your posts to be interesting and thought-provoking vlaiv, so with your new-found dark skies I hope there will be many more.
