M8 The Lagoon Nebula Reprocessed.

Being afflicted with the dreaded weather curse and very limited time to image, due to a significant amount of clouds which seems never ending!!!. I figured I would see if I could tease more detail out of my M8 image from 1st may this year. To be fair the data was very noisy, I don't think my badder modified Nikon D80 likes the temps over here. The original data set consisted of 24 x 180sec lights with darks and biases. I reprocessed this by running it through Noisware (downloaded lastnight) then DSK de-green, a little contrast, clarity, some High-pass, added luminance to brighten it up a little, a touch of saturation and vibrancy and some other bits.

While I like it now, it isn't the best M8 image you'll ever see and it is a little soft, I think I could have done a better job focusing it. Still, i'm pretty happy with it now.

Comments and advice welcome.

Thanks for looking

great image mate, nice to see what its like from the land of the riseing sun, lovely detail.thanks for sharing  charl

Thanks Charl

It gets hot and very humid over here, and is quite often cloudy at night. There are so many mountains and because of that, it's like I live in a cloud factory! You can literally see them forming en mass from the mountain sides and tops. Mind you, I do love running up them and mountain biking is just awesome.

Tonight it's about 28 dec C and 87% humidity, so not too bad. Looking forward to winter as that's the dry season and better for observing.

I should put up some Images of Japan sometime, I guess.

There are some good observatories near me, one of them being the biggest public viewing observatory in the world.
