Oops no IR filter

Recommended Posts

As a beginner myself, here's a word of advice to others starting out on planetary imaging - get an IR filter./ even a cheap one will make a big difference to what you get. On 30 June I had the best seeing for Saturn I've had so far, but forgot the filter. The resultiunbg pictures are my sharpest yet, but the colour is 'orrible, even after scything back the red channel.

Without IR filter

Saturn 30 June

With IR Filter:

Saturn 27 May Registax

Not all the useful gear is expensive!
