Skywatcher Mercury 705 purchase

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have studied quite a bit (mostly on forum) but other sites as well and I would like to purchase Skywatcher Mercury 705 as my first scope.

I have seen it sold in UK, however, I live in Netherlands and does anyone maybe know where can I get it here or should I order it from there? Also, would like to use it for some photo shooting. If I understood correctly this should be ready for connecting the camera?

Any other thoughts before I go ahead?

Thanks up front!

Regards,

Ante.

Hi Antuntus this shop in holland has it http://www.robtics.nl/

And this one in germany http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/index.php/language/en

With regards to using a camera I dont think that the mount would be up to anything more than a modded webcam for images of the  planets and moon , others will know better than me tho.

The mount cannot be motorised so you would be limited to short exposures.

I have this mount and use it with my camera for wide field images.

To help balance the tripod with my short refractor I followed this guide and made my own counter weight.

This is a nice review of the setup.

You could use the telescope with your camera for the Moon or Jupiter as both don't need long exposure and you will need to make a counter weight bar to do this as a camera would make it very rear heavy and the mount is not designed for that so need to balance it.
