Skywatcher ED Deluxe Barlow

Hi. Anyone got one of the above?

Got mine yesterday. Tried to fit it into the 2" ep holder on my 200p dob, but it does appear to fit all the way in.

Quick question. Do I need to use the ep holder? Not got a clear night to try it.

I guess its a 2" barlow? if so it should only go in "so far" a bit like the barrel of an eyepiece

Hi. If you look at the barrel that on an ep goes all the way in, on the Barlow it doesn't. The top section sits proud, and the Lowe barrell still has about 20mm sticking out the top.

This is a long shot but born of experience.

I recently bought a 2" Barlow and worried that something was wrong because it didn't go 'all the way in'. It felt as if it was hitting on something rubbery, or elastic-like.

It turned out to be so tight a fit that it was air pressure holding it back. The same was true for eyepieces inserted into the Barlow, almost like an airlock. Moving the Barlow/eyepiece around helped the air escape and allowed the Barlow/EP to fit properly.

All the movement didn't help my Dob's positioning one bit, of course - but at least I was sure my Barlow wasn't faulty!

Worth a try ...?

Hi. When I check the ep holder there is a physical "ledge" that stops the Barlow going further in.
