What's happening.....please explain

I have a new Atik 460  Mono CCD camera which I'm still getting to grips with.

If I take a 2x2 bin & stack in Maxim DL I get the expected mono image- after all its a mono camera.

If I take a 1x1 bin & stack in Maxim I get a colour image which i presume is coming from the filter being used and then getting mapped through to a colour channel. Why does this happen with the 1x1 bin & not with the 2x2 bin?

See the example pictures below. The Orion nebula is a 2x2 bin but the horse-head nebula through the same camera & filter shows colour mapping to a channel.

If I were not going into perplexed mode I'd suspect that I have got a colour camera labelled as mono!

Hi Pyra! I suppose you processed both pictures? Can you remember the processing steps? You probably changed no settings in between the two pictures? Kind regards

I'm not aware of changing any settings. I produced a new set of calibration images & stacked in the usual way. The strange thing is that the problem (if it is one) only affects 1x1 bin.

Well... could it be that you used the old calib images for the the good ones? Just asking...

I can't answer your question, but both images would look good on any wall
