LN300 First light

Hey guys the LN300 finally arrived from china yesterday. This thing is tiny lol. It came well packaged and with the IR filter removed.

Managed to get out for a short time in between the clouds. The moon was out in force so views of DSO looked poor and washed out. So spent most of my time looking at the moon or just messing about with different settings. First impression seems ok i guess. The menu is harder to work than the sammy thats for sure! But im sure will get easier with practice.

I need to play with the colour settings they dont look right.

Here are a few pics :) (the pic with the scb2000 was very rushed and out of focus it was just to show how bad it looked due to the moon)

it is small, Chris they look good, did you have them both at the same sens up settings for m27? and pretty much the same on the moon , I bet if the colour settings were both the same on the 2 camera's you couldn't tell the difference.

I would think the LN300 is a better buy considering the price of a 2000 is fetching nowadays

Dont take this as any kind of strict comparison guys. The settings were totally different in each camera. The pics of M27 the sammy was x512 with AGC set to low. The ln300 was x1024 and AGC set to off. Im sure i had the brightness all the way up on ln300 and  less than 10 on the sammy. I was just messing about with settings all night.

The menus are just so different its hard to get the settings the same.

On the moon pics both cameras were at 1/1000 shutter speed.

Davy - total cost was $94.11 which worked out as £59.93 :) This included the quicker delivery option of $24 or something. It would have been £45 with the free delivery.

I wouldn't be in any rush to buy one though... as Ken mentioned this is basically an unmodified Mallincam micro. Will be interested to see what the total price of the micro will be for us in the uk. And also the results compared to the unmodified version. Its early days yet but i think the sammy might have some competition here.

Karl - Yeh its the size that amazes me! Its like its made for a telescope. Its the exact same size as a BST eyepiece :)
