EP,s and Barlows

Giving some thoughts on gettings some decent EP,s and was thinking about a 30mm and 40mm and back them up with 3 good Barlows. x2,x3 and x5

the x5 with a 30mm would =6mm

x5 with 40mm = 8mm

etc etc

any thoughts on this or would it better to get some high power EP,s

Half decent barlows will cost as much as eyepieces would so, in my view, you might as well get some medium and high powered eyepieces and avoid having the extra glass in the optical path.

If you are talking about the 1.25" eyepiece size, a 40mm is a bit of a waste of time in my view as a 32mm will show just as much sky and the higher magnfication will create a blacker background sky which will help spot those fainter deep sky objects.
