spc900 raw looks terrible

Recommended Posts

In raw mode you are viewing the colour filter array (CFA) data - this has to be processed to create a 'normal' RGB image. The CFA has an array of filters each 2x2 block of the image have 2 green pixels, 1 red, and 1 blue. In a processed image each pixel has a red, green, and blue value.

If you tool an image of a totally red field, then one pixel in four would be illuminated in the raw image.

I suggest some Googling of CFA and de-bayering as background reading.

I saw exactly the same effect and flashed back to normal output, I don't need it as I am only guiding. I thought it might be the need for a different processing approach, seems to be confirmed above. Have you tried putting it through GIMP as a RAW file?

Just noticed the stars seem much tighter on the raw.
