Lightbridge altitude brake

Well after much provarocation and indecision the simplest approach has won out. A bungee stretched over the mount wheel provides what seems to be a really suitable friction brake.

Currently it is secured to the eyepiece holder. Once I have tried it, I will make suitable brackets and post pictures.

How is your scope balanced? I have never had to use my altitude brake at all on my LB.

I'm hoping this will negate the need for balance weights. Cash is v tight at the moment (evidently I spend too much on stuff) so this is the solution for the moment.

Well in that case a bungee rope is alot cheaper.

Gave it a good try last night. Works a treat (even on tree skimmers) with no dipping and it is smooth to move and operate.
