Whats the difference between NexStar 8 GPS xlt Telescope & CPC 800 GPS (XLT). And more importantly if it was your money which would you buy considering the NexStar 8 GPS xlt Telescope ca be purchased from greenwitch for £1900 and the CPC 800 GPS (XLT) can be purchased from D Hinds for £1899.

Are both of these capable of carrying to extra weight of an ED80 & counterbalance?

the CPC has an upgradable hand controller and a beefier tripod. I personally dont see the CPC as an upgrade to the GPS but as a cost cutting exercise by celestron. both still nice scopes though. i think both could carry an ED80 with counterweights. MartinB is the one to ask i think, and Roger had one of these for a while.

Why is the CPC 800 see as a downgrade from the Nexstar 8 GPS if the mount is sturdier, has the upgradable hand controller and comes with the Starbright coatings. Is the optical quality, the tracking or the GPS inferior?
