Baader Neodymium Filter +When to use

Recommended Posts

I appreciate there is probably no right or wrong but I have a Cannon 450d modded and I have bought a Baader Neodymium Filter, i appreciate that it really helps with LP and I found that the other day when I was imaging and there was a moon, the filter of course also has UV/IR cut properties. So that question is should I use this filter by default or are there times when It would on be used ?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Regards

The Neodym filter is good with the moon cutting its brightness and also good for mild light pollution and enhancing nebula slightly for visuals. The Neodym is best for lunar and planetary.

For imaging the CSL filter would be better for nebula I would have thought as Neodyium effect is only slight and best for Mars and Jupiter contrast by enhancing RGB.

John.
