HI

If i was to say i live in a mid light pollution area (Just south of Preston, Lancashire) and have an interest in astrophotography mostly deep with a little planetary what would be a recommended set up considering i already have a 300D and 400D Canon DSLR and say £500 to spend

Ideas anyone ????

I put together a starter dso imaging rig for £500. Megrez 72, CG5 (or EQ5), and RA/Dec motors - all second hand except the motors. It won't be brilliant on planets but I've seen others get good dso results with the meg. Hope that gives you an idea :o

Mount needs to come first. The HEQ5 is excellent but over budget. If you have lenses, especially longer FL ones, I would use those till you get a good mount and switch to a telescope later.

BTW, I used to live in Chorley and work in Preston a long time ago!
