Hating brass compression rings...

It's not only the shape and depth of the groove that's an issue, it's the position of the groove relative the the "shoulder" of the eyepiece...different lengths here cause the retaining screw and or the compression ring still to allow the eyepiece to slip backwards out of the focuser/ adaptor/ diagonal under any sort of load. I had endless problems with a beamsplitter which just refused to stay in the focuser....PITA...
