Handset help!

Hi all

A couple of quick questions - before I try it!!

Does anyone know:

a) Are Synscan and Celestron handsets compatible?

If I plug my Celestron handset into my nice new EQ5 synscan mount, will it 'blow up' and never work again?

Any help much appreciated!!!

The handsets are incompatible. I would suspect that if you plugged the Celestron handset into a Synscan mount or visa versa nothing would happen.

Did you get the mount 2nd hand without a handset?

SynScan handsets (with goto etc) can be pricey.. if its only basic slewing and tracking your after then you can use a "Syntrek" hansdset...

Dont get confused with the Alt/AZ versions the handsets they wont work with the EQ mount...

or get cable to connect with laptop and use ascom drivers to move your scope cheapest solution

I acutally got a Syntrek handset and an EQDIR cable with the mount, so I may go that way - just got to get the missus to let me use her laptop...
