Lunar Outreach

Hi all

Had a great time last night, a group of us were out for a public outreach and the moon was the star, so to speak. I love to hear the reactions of the public as they view the moon for the first time. There were plenty of "wows", and "ohs". There was no one who was not disappointed and the thanks you recieve is very welcome.

As an amateur, outreach is one of my favourite aspects of the hobby.

I agree, the moon when near first quarter and high in the sky is an excellent target for outreach events as there is loads of detail to see in any scope and no issues with dark adaptation etc. Saturn is good but many people are surprised that it is so small ... no such issue with the Moon!
