No not really. I know that fracs are easier to maintain and to setup for a nights viewing, but it still dose not change the fact that if you want a frac that can produce the sort of images you get from a decent newt you have to pay almost twice as much.

I agree with this sentiment entirely (my name's Shane and I'm a newtaholic) but I sold my frac because it did not give as good an image and took a longer time to set up (ignoring cooling but there's no effort there) and break down.

my 12" dob takes about 1 minute to set up (two if I include collimation).

seriously, if people don't buy a newt because of collimation, they are missing out for no reason at all.
