a flash in the sky

Hi everyone.

I am new here, so forgive me if a have put this in the wrong place.

Tonight, i was looking at the sky after work, and i saw what seemed to be a star getting brighter, then disappearing again.

It was in Persius, just under Mirphak. it only lasted a second or so and didn't move at all.

Does anyone know what it could have been?

Satellite flare. This is caused when a satellite moves into direct sunlight (gets brighter) and then moves out of the sunlight again (gets dimmer).
