Saturn - 29th January2011

Finally managed to drag myself out of bed at 4am to have a look at Saturn !!

I think I saw the new storm feature in the Northern hemisphere - but seeing was not good and it was more of a change in brightness than actual detail.

Rings are now opening - 10' and a little of the Cassini division could be seen.

Globe was a pale yellow colour.

Brilliant, David. I got my first look at it this apparition too on the following morning. Conditions and view were exactly as you have sketched and described. I was using my 12", and thought I might have seen the storm feature as a brighter smear, but couldn't say for sure
