Celestron 76 focus question

I've now got my first scope and I seem to be having a little trouble.

I got everything alligned properly to have a look at a quite easy target (the moon) so I knew I hadnt missed it, however I couldn't get it in view and wonder if I've done something wrong. I've only ever looked through scopes that were already focused in on a target, and I'm going to away to a dark site for the weekend soon and would really like to get some decent views.

Hi Jonathon,

Id check to see if the eyepiece being used is the widest one i had also

the lens is clean and the scope free of obstruction, failing that wait until daylight then practice focusing on a far away object?

Hi Jonathon, may sound obvious but did you take the end cap off the end of the scope? Is your finder scope lined up correctly?

Yeah I've checked that everything is clean and ready to go the only ep I have at the moment is a 10mm and I will give it a go during the day and see how that goes.

Just to add dew can cause images to look out of focus when its bad..

I dont think I was out there long enough for dew to be an issue but will keep an eye on that.
