Whats this up by Mirach?? Newbie Alert!

Managed to get my first clear evening, rather a lot of moon tho!

Have I picked up something here? Its on the right edge of Mirach, its about 2mins of capture at 2s each as Ive not got my Astrotrac up and running.

First time ive done this, so Is it just noise or is it actually something to be happy with?

Can no one tell me what it is that creates the red glow? Lens etc...?

Th red glow is part of the vignetting. This is increased when you boost saturation during processing. The vignetting is also much increased if as you start to get dew on your optics

Hi Charilie,

Further to what Martin has said, "flats" are a common way to combat vignetting. We might be able to help more if we knew what equipment/setup you are using for imaging? Are you at prime focus? (Camera attached directly to scope?) Eyepiece projection?

Its a Nikon D7000, using a prime 180mm f2.8 Lens stopped to 3.5

Iso 200, 2 Sec exposure, thats the full image.

Ngc 404 aka Mirach's Ghost is just seven arc minutes away from Mirach, always in the FOV when I look at Mirach.
