There are a few examples of home made solar filters, with the right sort of filter film and some care it's an alternative. Look up mine or Astro Kev's for good examples in the DIY Astronomer threads.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and i am now pleased to say that the scope has finally arrived and have got it set up and now just waiting for the stars to come out (hopefully) any advice would be greatly appreciated as to what lenses to use for what, i currently have with the scope a super plossl 25mm and a super plossl 10 mm also a x2 Barlow thanks again
