Yet another t-ring and adapter question

Hi guys,

I have just discovered that the canon t-ring that I have been using can be separated into two pieces! Presumably this larger ring is for a 2" adapter?

Is this why the images I have taken are so far away from the planets? Can anyone recommend the best 2" adapter from FLO?

Will a 2" adapter also give me more light into my camera and/or eliminate vignetting?

Many thanks,

Adam

The T ring is in two pieces so that when you fit a lens to your camera, the focus / aperature markings can be adjusted so they are visible on top. There are three screws on the edge of the ring, slacken these of, and rotate the lens, then tighten the, and each time you fitted the lens, the markings were on top.

The T adaptor was designed to allow non oem lens makers to manufacture just one lens with a screw thread that would go in the T adaptor for fitting to any make of SLR camera. This was a cheaper option for the lens makers and also if you changed the camea to a different make, you just needed to get a new adaptor and keep your lenses.

This was in the days before Auto-focus and electronics in cameras. The astro community have just adopted the T ring and use it in the same way that it was origionally designed for.
