Thanks...One thing I have found is that I can't seem to operate the levels function on a tiff file. Have you found this?

sorry "levels" should read "layer". This works with a jpeg e.g. layer...new adjustment layer...levels.

I understand what you are saying , sorry to ask have you tried double clicking on the layer? It should activate the greyed out options, if not duplicate layer and work on that.

its a bit hit and miss but never had that issue. Is it only that tiff that you have problems with, also what app did you get the tiff from? DSS ect.

edit: just had a quick read online.. try converting it to a 8 bit tiff . looks like a sacrifice of colour range or an upgrade
