Orion's Nebula

Hi all,

I post these pics, not with a sense of pride, but a question of what am I doing wrong.

I did multiple subs. I was focused as close as my non nano optimised fingers would allow. Motorised scope, but only short exposures. Log ones gave too much LP and without tracking it was wandering.

I'm hoping it was just bad seeing. I have a lot of LP in the area plus there's was maybe a lot of ice crystals higher up. Visibility wise, I could see Ursor Major, Pollux, Castor and Alhena quite well, but everything else was lost in the mire.

I was shooting through a C80 ED-R with a Canon 60D 800iso 2-4 second exposures.

Hi and thanks.

15 lights plus 1 dark. Stacked in DSS.

This image was from stacked jpgs as the version of DSS I was using last night didn't support raws from my 60D. I've since installed the beta of DSS and I've re-stacked using raws and it's not much better. I've yet to run it through PS, but I'm not expecing miracles.
