Ring clamps

Hi: i'm trying to improve the clamps on my 200 Orion Optics reflector

the origional tube rings used sash clamps!!

one of them has broken and i want to replace it with somthing more up to date??

anyone know where i might obtain them.

Hi Ray. I don't know if you are a DIYer, but if you are, then a trip to B&Q or

similar, often turns up something useful for me. It's surprising what can be

adapted from its original use.

Thanks Ed, i'll give them a try, i suppose i am somthing of a DIYer, i have attached a couple of photo's (if iv'e done it correctly) to give an idea of what i need.

Hi Ray, seems like your workbench needs a tidy just like

mine does The modified clamp on the right looks

stronger than the original.

The later OO scopes have more robust ring clamps than

earlier models. Hope you come up with a good solution.

Hi Ed; the one on the right i made up from a couple of pieces of alloy, it's much stronger than the origional sash type but took a lot of filing etc, it's quite robust as you can see.

i dont know what they are called, Tube clamps, ring clasps etc, iv'e tried loads in google but cannot find anything like them.

OO do fit better ones now but you can't buy them seperately.

took me a while to make the clamp, it will take me longer to tidy the bench....again!!!
