hello there i was just in waterstones today,and noticed the phillips astro box for sale at £19.99. I was just wondering just as im total beginner is this package actually worth getting,to explain and instruct me the hobby of astronomy? if not what is?

sorry guys to answer my own question a friend has it and ive had a read to be honest for a absolute beginner like my self i would have to say it has to be a must have!

it could be a good buy but for me if you want to get started and have something that will give you years and years of future targets too then I'd recommend Illustrated Guide to Astronomical Wonders: From Novice to Master Observer DIY Science: Amazon.co.uk: Robert Thompson, Barbara Fritchman, Thompson: Books as the best £16 you'll ever spend.

It has sections on equipment and how to observe and record and masses of maps and targets by constellation.

I bought the the astrobox you mentioned prior to buying my SW 6" Newt. i would recommend it. Very good read and the planisphere will certainly help you identify stuff.
