IR Filter removal

No, it wouldn't. The IR filter on a DSLR is very savage and cuts too far into the red part of the spectrum that we do want to capture. When a DSLR is modified by removal of the IR filter, a more astro-friendly IR filter has to be used instead because without an IR filter you will get bloated stars because IR light will reach the sensor. The IR filter in the Meade DSI will have been designed with astronomy use in mind.
