Deep Sky Stacker failing to load

I've just downloaded DSS and unzipped it. When I run the exe file I'm getting an error "The application has failed to start, its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail".

I've done the usual of re-booting, tried to track down the event log but can't find anything with any useful information in it. I've searched through SGL and can't find anything similar, no anything on the site I download DSS from.

Anyone any ideas, if it helps I'm running Vista.

Don't be offended, but you did extract the zip rather than run the exe from the window that opens when you double click the zip? Sorry, but seen so many people do it.

Not offended in any way! all help is appreciated. I'm fairly sure that I went through the extract process but to be sure I'll uninstall and download again, and this time I'll take more notice of what I'm doing!

Numpty! Me that is, downloaded the wrong file, took the update file rather than the install from new!
